Vodafone is here!

well vodafone is here... they really need to erase the brand "Hutch" first and then implant the brand "Vodafone" in people's memory...
and first of all, when compared to "Hutch", "Vodafone" is even difficult to pronounce...

and there is the color, it should change from "Hutch" pink to "Vodafone" red....
but interestingly even Airtel's brand is red in color...so will "Vodafone" change it's brand color to orange or something here in India?

got to wait and see...

till then we are sure to get tortured with the new Hutch, sorry Vodafone ad... ;)

2 different incidents

this was supposed to be written as 2 different posts...

now it's getting squeezed into 1 :)

When i was in US and was applying to driving license, one of the nerve wrenching moments was writing Online test as part of the Driving License process.
It's not because the test was difficult or something, but because quite a few of my colleagues flunk in the test for no particular reason... and even flunking was really no big deal, but the experience of coming back to office and facing all the teasing(sometimes mocking) smiles from few fellow colleagues was not a good one :) (yes, cracking the test and getting license used to be a big deal like cracking CAT!!)

So we really do end up in trying to read the Driving License Manual or handbook thoroughly...
And one thing that always surprised me about that book was the Precision with which few details were written in that book or atleast projected that way...
Here is one for ex, (i searched the net to get the free online manual, but couldn't get one)
The distance between your car and the car in front of you should be equivalent to the distance which can be covered in your current driving speed with the time taken to say the numbers 200 and 201.

i might have got the number wrongs, but the idea is the same and it really surprised me to see to what extent these guys have gone to make things perfect.

Also one of the things which i didn't understand on reading for the first time was DUI. when i asked my colleague,he mentioned that it's Driving Under Influence...

and the word influence doesn't only imply Alcohol and other stuff, but also other things which might cause you a loss in mental stability. One classic example which often happens in our great country is "when one individual cuts and drives past us, we really get annoyed and honk out our anger or in extreme cases, try and repeat the same with him".

This is exactly the incident which i saw last thursday.
In one of the four road intersection, a bike guy (from east) was taking a left turn and a maruti alto guy (from west) took a right turn by just cutting across bike guy. (And i was driving behind these guys and ended up witnessing these events.) Bike guy was completely annoyed. He turned and looked at me as if to indicate that how stupid that car guy had driven past him. Now we both were in left lane and the car guy was driving in right.
Then suddenly the bike guy started driving fast and overtook the car walla by moving from left lane to right lane :) I was amazed to see the force with which the bike guy did this. Infact the car was forced to slow down due to the bike in front of it. And when the car tried to move from right lane to left lane, the bike as well tried to move.

And this continued for next few minutes till the biker took a turn in the next corner.
I am not sure whether the car guy understood why the biker was behaving that way.

But it was surprising to see how the biker showed his annoyance to the car guy. Infact the biker had not even thought of any repercussions that might happen due to his action. What if the car guy had just hit him instead of stepping on the break?

And for me, it looked as if the biker has taken too much of unnecessary risk to show his annoyance, which infact is not worth taking for this incident...

Maybe thats why it's called DUI when rational thinking is kept aside for a while :)

Now coming to the second incident...this is something which doesn't happen often for us :) ;)

It was raining heavily yesterday morning around 8.30am. I was supposed to meet a friend of mine at 9am and the meeting place was just around 1.5 km from my place.
So i decided to walk instead of driving, which i later realized to be a terrible mistake, thanks to the water on the road and to the cars driving on the road in that water.
Because when it comes to driving in a water clogged road, really these car people neither care about the pedestrians nor about the fellow 2 wheelers. Atleast when we are a 2 wheeler we get an option to either to drive along or at a distance to the other cars in the road. But at that time of the day,as a pedestrian we are subjected to the brunt of few cars splashing away in the road.

And after a while, thanks to the complete water clogged road, i was unable to take the foot path and ended up walking along the road divider on the opposite direction. So it was easy to see the cars which were coming in front and walk accordingly by avoiding the water pools.

Then came one particular place where the water was clogged for quite some distance and a few meters ahead, saw a white Octavia coming at a fast speed in the road. I actually stopped walking and tried to move to the left as much as possible. And the water pool ended just before where i was standing.

Then came this car and when the driver came near he tried to slow his car and ended up bringing it to a complete halt :)
as far as my movie knowledge goes, this scene is yet to be taken in any movie and now the sole copyright is with me ;)
yes, the car stopped just adjacent to me and the guy inside the car was talking on a phone and gave a smart smile towards me(probably appreciating himself that he didn't splash water atlast). I was able to see him clearly because i was walking along the road divider and hence was standing towards his right.

I was actually stunned at this unexpected twist of event and also highly annoyed because this stupid person, dressed in white, was sitting inside such a comfortable car and me standing in the water clogged road with a stupid umbrella.

Then, as it always in real life, i walked past the car and continued my journey towards the meeting place. :) :)

But this is really one kind of an incident which doesn't happen to us always...
And when i think of it, it does make me smile :)

My date

there are few days when u really feel like not doing any work and just be on ur own... last friday was one such day for me... :) maybe due to prev night's hangover of frustration.

so as a first thing in the morning, i wanted to write a post and hence opened blogger...

amazingly there were more than 20 posts stored in drafts in different stages of completion...
and found a very interesting one, which i seem to have written on 26 feb 2005 :) :) :)
i even forgot that i had written a draft in this topic.

here it goes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i happened to watch the "Season finale" of Simi garewal's Rendezvous.
In that, every guest was asked as whom they would take as their Date for an evening.

i thought,whom would i take for a Date,given an opportunity..:)
Fortunately or unfortunately, the first person to come to my mind is Michael Schumacher.:) How wonderful it would be...

till date,i have never posted anything about my F1 crush or mainly schumi crush.
actually the reason is,no single post can aptly explain everything mind thinks about it.so thats the reason i never wrote about it.

it happened during my 2nd year of college.it was one of those

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
that was the draft stored... let me continue further :)

"it happened during my 2nd year of college. it was one of those lazy sunday afternoons in hostel, where all the souls without a boyfriend end up sleeping out the time or chatting out... i neither had a boyfriend nor was keen on chatting/sleeping ! ...
so ended up alone in the TV Room. and it was a bad timings as no programme was good in that afternoon time - around 3pm...
as i was just browsing thru the channels with utter distaste, came across star sports... there were some cars just whizzing around and the first thing i liked was the commentary..the commentator seemed to have got completely immersed into the sport that even the way he was talking seemed to symbolize the speed associated with the sport.

that was the first impression i had and it was a good one ;)

then came something called pitstop, where these guys brought their car into pit to refuel and did some cleaning stuff.

it was amazing to see how the whole team just pounced on the car as it stopped in the pit,did the cleanup including wiping off the driver's helmet glass..refueling was done and the car was out of the pit in an amazing 8 seconds...

even then when the guy came out of the pit, he missed his first position narrowly to another guy ... and later he regained the first position after the second pit stop...

this whole stuff was kind of unimaginable for me as i had never watched a race in TV before.
and for the first time, i ended up watching the race till the completion with the same enthu and amazement...

then came the icing on the cake...
the guy who won the race was none other than Schumi... (as expected ;))... and it's not everyday that u like somebody from the first sight ;) :)

till then i never understood why people are a fan of somebody or something...

and then, rest is history.... :)
i always made sure to watch every single F1 race(even got early in the morning to watch Australian races and stayed late night to watch US/Canadian grandprix)... felt happy when schumi won a race and did his typical jump in podium... felt sad/upset when he didn't win a race... infact sometimes i even went to an extreme to say that if he didn't win a race, then that following week was a sad week with all wrong things happening. (ya it sounds really crazy now when i type... but that was the truth :))
even spent 25euros or so every year to become a member in Ferrari website, so that i can download wallpapers/screensavers and read news about F1 and Schumi :)

the only time when i missed watching F1 was when i was US... eventhough we can track every lap details thru Formula1 site, it's never the same as watching live on TV...

but one of the good things of being in US was that i had a chance to watch US F1 Live in Indianapolis in 2005.... one of the best moments in my life :)

and the only saddest point is, i never watched any other F1 Live with Schumi in track.. :(
one of the greatest dreams was to spend one full season travelling around the world with one team...ofcourse i wanted to do that when Schumi was around...

infact i met quite a few ppl in US F1 who actually were kind of doing like this...there was a guy with huge tripod and other camera stuff who had been to Canadian GP and then came to US GP... and there were a bunch of German girls who had been to 4 races in that season...

hmmm... if at all i get a chance like that.......maybe when Schumi starts working in Ferrari again in some position :) :)

Ego in an argument

Let me confess this point first," I like arguments".
And really, a productive argument helps a lot in getting to know different perspectives.
We get to see the issue in different angles.

But sometimes these arguments are heavily influenced with the Ego of an individual that it becomes very tiring to continue the discussion.

And it forces me to behave in a selfish way(probably a realistic one) to assess the importance of the issue and if it's a less significant one, i just say "yes" and try to end the argument.

And the problem is, this seems to encourage the other person to continue to lace arguments with his/her ego.

maybe there might be some real techniques on how to handle these scenarios ...
but really this needs a heavy balance on being flexible vs being stubborn on one's point of view...

so why am i rambling suddenly over this point? :)
yesterday and today i have seen quite a few email chains with this kind of behavior...and i am wondering whether this is a cause of previous impressions people have over each other or they behave just the same way with everybody....

i don't know...
but going thru this is really tiring and very unproductive...
