This is a forward from a friend for an argument which we had on the context similar to the below poem...
I think the definition of 'need' was different for both of us :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh it's a mystery to me.
We have a greed, with which we have agreed...
and you think you have to want more than you need...
until you have it all, you won't be free.
Society, you're a crazy breed.
I hope you're not lonely, without me.
When you want more than you have, you think you need...
and when you think more then you want, your thoughts begin to bleed.
I think I need to find a bigger place...
cause when you have more than you think, you need more space.
Society, you're a crazy breed.
I hope you're not lonely, without me.
Society, crazy indeed...
I hope you're not lonely, without me.
There's those thinkin' more or less, less is more,
but if less is more, how you keepin' score?
It means for every point you make, your level drops.
Kinda like you're startin' from the top...
and you can't do that.
Society, you're a crazy breed.
I hope you're not lonely, without me.
Society, crazy indeed...
I hope you're not lonely, without me
Society, have mercy on me.
I hope you're not angry, if I disagree.
Society, crazy indeed.
I hope you're not lonely...
without me.

Change is in the air!
I have always felt that Farmers are one of the most intelligent lot. The only problem might be that they have a narrow thinking range. This might be the reason why middlemen are the guys who reap the rewards of the hardwork put in by the farmers.
Very happy to see that some initiatives are taken to change this trend now...

Infact i was always skeptical about all these retailers like Walmart, Reliance procuring directly from Farmers. Because it's hard to believe that these companies would really share any major profits with the Farmers, atleast their reputation doesn't stand for it though.
On a side note, i remember my brother resonating the same thoughts.
1. Farmers are really very intelligent people. Infact when it comes to pesticides and fertilizers, they not only know the names..they know the chemical composition of the all the pesticides and fertilizers, know how these chemicals impact the farm yields.
2. The major problem is the herd mentality. Everybody harvests the same product and in turn end up flooding the market with that product, thus driving the prices down.
Another interesting problem which he mentioned was fragmentation of farm land. That is, if a farmer with 10 acres of land has 2 sons, then in the next generation it becomes 2 farmers with 5 acres of land. This leads to more owners and less percentage of market share for any individual. This results in lesser profits for individuals.

It's a Girl!
Received a SMS from my teammate last monday. She gave birth to a baby girl on friday.
I started smiling and was completely surprised for one thing.
It happened 2 months back. She used to sit next to my place in office. Since she was my team member, we used to interact a lot on a daily basis. She is one of the people who look all soft outside, but really quite a stubborn fellow :)
One day when we were talking, she suddenly said,"She is moving now". I replied getting up from my place,"Who? Who is moving?". She said," My child". I was like,"Oh..ok", as i didn't know what to say. Immediately i asked her,"You are telling 'she'. How come?" . She replied,"Yes. i have a feeling that it's going to be a girl for me. Also, if i start telling like this, my hubby will also get the same mindset from now onwards. Because he wants only a boy".
I was surprised on listening to her reply and wondered to what extent her feeling is going to be right.
Now i know she was perfectly right.
PS : Infact here, in this part of the country,it is considered a blessing to have a girl child on Friday, as friday is considered to be the day of Lakshmi, goddess of wealth :)

It was the year 2005. Was working onsite near Chicago. One of our colleague was leaving to India. So myself and 2 of my friends went to O'hare Airport to leave him. It was an hour journey in Interstate-90.
It was a friday and on the return journey the highway was completely congested with the weekend traffic. As usual, due to my obsession with driving, i was the driver during both onward and return journey.
Infact my friends used to hate driving and i was a person who wanted drive for hours together.
The traffic came to a standstill for around 10 minutes. My friend who was sitting next to me started telling that Americans really enjoy their weekends and we,Indians, enjoy only when we are in US. Back in India, we never plan for any weekend getaways and all. I replied that it's true.
The conversation continued and it came to the discussion as what we really want to do in life, the one thing that'll be a happy pill to go through the normal drudgery of everyday life. He said he wanted to retire at 40 and enjoy life doing nothing :) He asked me next.
I said, "I want to take a year break. Join Ferrari or atleast Minardi (the team which always scores the least in F1) team. Be a part of their team and go to all Formula1 races through out the world. In that way, weekends i get to see F1 race live and in the weekdays, i can travel throughout the city which we are visiting.
Infact I don't think i'll get any engineer post as i don't have any experience. I will be happy with any clerical or some trainee post. All that matters is to be part of the team"
The Friend from the backseat who was actually listening to our conversation till that time immediately replied,"After graduating from such an excellent college and now working in such a great job, is clerical job in some F1 team the thing you really want to do?"
I replied,"See.this is exactly the reason why i don't tell this out. because u can never understand."
He said,"No it's not like that. I am wondering what is so great in that experience."
----------------------------------------------------------------
It has been 3 years since this incident happened and this one real thing is still pending with life going through it's own twists and turns...In this 3 years, even schumi has retired to his wonderful house in switzerland....several new places are added to the F1 calendar.
now why did i go back in this memory lane?
got a chance to see this site
and the first thing that came to my mind is this incident.

Chat
After reading so many nice blogs, one thing which i have concluded is, my posts aren't that funny.. or atleast not many sound like that when i read it later!
This is not surprising though, considering the ups and downs a mind takes in a day.. ;)
But there are some people who really get the best wit out of us...really true..
This friend is one of the very few people with whom i chat(somehow chatting/SMSing is not in my top expertise list!)
Today morning we had a chat. As usual it had a few funny/wry replies and lot of gyaan...
Below is a sample...btw, i have received permission from the friend to post this.
A note: Sani which is referred here is "Shani " in Hindu Astrology, Saturn. Generally his presence is considered quite unfavourable in one's life. For further info refer here
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friend: theree?
me: yes
Friend: you have some time?
me: yes..
Friend: A new hr has come she has conducted a survey on attrition rate it has been found XXX (my team) is the top contributor
me: hmm..all smart people..
Friend: apparantly the reason is "No internal opportunities given".
Friend: Z is having the toughest time of her life
me: ok...probably sani is ruling in her life as well..
Friend: i dont believe its sani.its the curse by all good willed people her sins are overflowing.
now its payback time
me: hmm...it's sani which has made her act like that to get the curses..
Friend: heh.. then she has got it since she joined xxx.
me: exactly...sani always acts in longterm..7 and half years right..
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friend: if you dont consider me chauvinist ,i can give a comment.Z and most female mgrs follow rules.thats the reason.
me: hold on buddy..u haven't seen the world enough to comment as "female mgrs" so it's wrong..
Friend: i atleast know HR mgrs
me: all u've seen is 1 or 2 exceptions..HR mgrs are all overpaid morons..
Friend: i've never heard a girl saying she had a good mgr who is a woman.
me: so it's a sin to even judge them in any way...bcos they are beyond all common senses..
Friend: hehe but i am happy that Z is having a bad time.though she did lot of good to me.
she killed the career of many people in XXX.
me: thats a mistake u have done there.. never ask a girl about another girl...it's very difficult to get a good response..unless they are lesbian or something..
Friend: LOL.
me: see..how funny i can be, when i am frustrated in life and rolling in the pits of hell.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
me: this is called half glass full attitude...which is never ur attitude..
ur attitude is "am blind..where is the glass in the first place"
Friend: why do you say so
me: bcos u r a critic first..deep down in heart..even am a critic..
infact i am contemplating to become a political critic or IT critic..
Friend: you mean someone like reviewing everything?
me: i think there is no IT Critic currently...so probably i can create a new charter..
me: no..that's not even in there in last of the list..
we always get the negatives first..
analyse them..
then if time permits look at the positives..
and wonder why positives are there..
what can happen which will make the positives to negatives?
and wonder that positives are there as an illusion..which in original form is a negative..
so at the end everything is negative..
Friend: to some extent its true.i dont remember my chemistry and physics entrance marks
but i vividly remember my Math marks in which i got least.
i think its a middle class mentality, comes with the upbringing style.
me: thats one of the reasons...the basic problem lies in trust..
me: there really is no belief that good things do happen..or maybe no belief in ourselves that good things do happen to us..
Friend: he..he.
Friend: i think my basic problem remains in persistance.
me: why persistance? because u don't trust...so u try hanging to some extent crappy stuff..
Friend: not that persistance
i started with linux in 2000.i did some devp etc.but stopped it in b/w.had i continued with it.
i would have become really an expert on it.this is just an example
me: well..let me come back to the same advice which i gave atleast 1 and half years back thru IM..
ur fundamental problem is u don't know what u want...
so u r being controlled by ur family..and u r happy..
Friend: heh..heh.
me: bcos it helps u in not making any decision..and allows ample time to crib..
Friend: its true in some aspects.i tried hard on them..and lost hope
me: tell me an aspect in which it's not true..
Friend: thats why i cling more to IT and geek stuff.i have no one controlling me on that.
me: thats exactly why u r clueless there...
Friend: :D
freedom doesnt mean clueless.when you become focussed you loose freedom
me: yes..freedom means lot of options..so there will always be a confusion and has a burden called decision.
Friend: 'the problem is choice'
me: exactly..options...
Friend: dialog from Matrix
me: hmm...so my thoughts are inline with future perspectives ;)
This is not surprising though, considering the ups and downs a mind takes in a day.. ;)

MSD ?!
The last 3 draft posts have the Title as (x)?! where x is MSD, MBA and Critic... Does this really reflect my state of mind over the last 1 week? not sure...
Posting one now.
-------------------------------------
Ok, Dhoni does look good with the new short cropped hairstyle. I saw photos of his old hairstyle and wondered how admakers could've bothered to sign him with the previous long hairstyle...
also couldn't imagine what viewers would've felt seeing with the long hair flying all over the place while jumping for a catch or while running between the wickets! well i never saw a single match at that time.
Guess maybe thanks to his hairstyle, Orient PSP Fans would've got highly interested in signing him for their fan ad!!
Ok, coming back to the point, eventhough i like his looks, it's quite an irritating task to watch him in all the TV ads that too consecutively.
That's exactly what happened 2 days ago. It was around 8.30pm. Switched on TV and in a tamil channel, Dhoni was revealing the secret about "Boost" energy. In the next ad, he was asking all the viewers to use their tongue for the new flavour from Lays and also giving a number to send in their vote.(BTW, this is one of the creepiest ads...and dhoni's acting is the worst...). Next came the Sonata watch ad where i never understood what he is trying to do and what this ad is really meant for!
This was too much to take at a shot and switched to a news channel. Here Dhoni from chennai tries to scare the fast bowlers with his bat. This is the worst depiction of tamilians. We neither speak such a bad accented English nor use the word "rascal" as projected in the ad.
So in a matter of 30 mins, among 6 ads watched, 4 had dhoni's presence.
Don't these admakers think of the possible negative impact dhoni might have on viewers when the viewers see him in so many ads? Or do people don't get irritated?
I guess maybe the probability of seeing all the ads at one shot is quite less.
On a side note, I never understood how a star's promotion boosts a product's sales. I can't think of any product which i purchased due to a star's promotional influence. Ofcourse i am highly interested in buying a Ferrari, thanks to Schumi's influence.
But it still doesn't seem to fit in my budget though ;)

:(
There really is no consolation for the Chennai Superkings loss in finals yesterday.
It should've been a win that too after collapsing the opening order of the rajasthan royals batting.
Not sure whether the team just didn't have luck or the team didn't play the game seriously.
The fielding was very normal...Infact it was quite irritating when Vidyut failed to stop a few initial boundaries from Gony's bowling...guess even Gony was visibly upset.
Then came the drop of the Yusuf Pathan's catch by Raina and Gony. Ok, due to extremely less reaction time, Gony would've found it to difficult to catch the ball after bowling..but i still don't understand why and how Raina could drop that catch...
If at all he would've caught the ball, Rajasthan royals would've gone all out before 150.
Bowling was good by Ntini and Morkel. I am not sure what's wrong with Balaji. Probably he's too predictable. He was really taken for a shot by the batsmen.
Chennai really needs an alternative bowler...it might not be a good idea to make Balaji bowl all 4 overs. I think this is where Dhoni has made a mistake. He never planned for a sixth bowler. He should've asked Bhadri to bowl atleast an over in semifinals. It was very terrifying when Balaji was given the final over. He did a better job in the final over when compared to other 3 overs. Still the wide was quite unnecessary.
Also still unable to understand how Parthiv Patel could miss the ball in the final over, which led the Royals batsmen to run for a run.
One more important mistake done in the Chennai batting order was to send Chamara Kapugedera ahead of Bhadrinath. It was totally unnecessary. Keppler wessels might have thought that Chamara is a great hitter, but his performance in IPL is nothing when compared to Bhadrinath.
Over all, Yesterday was really a missed opportunity for Chennai Superkings. It should've been a Chennai Superkings win. It would've been a fitting tribute to a team effort when compared to individual successes in many other teams. Instead it has become a team failure over an individual's victory :(
