1 billion downloads!

Atlast, Apple has achieved 1 billion downloads in 9 months...

Interestingly, around 21% of the apps are related to Games with 13% related to Entertainment... check this link for full stats.

And here is a perspective about the App Economy...

IPhone has single handedly altered the mobile market.
And IPhone wasn't a huge hit in India... :)

Wonder how it'll fare in China...

Also wonder whether the next 1 billion downloads will be at a more accelerated pace or slower...

Wish it is one of a kind Gold rush which wanes as time passes... But then, it might always surface back, as it is happening now in california :)

Finally, check out a few weird tests performed on the mobile.
I always wonder how exactly the back cover and battery come off, whenever i drop my MOT phone. Maybe, they are designed to be like that...still, it never ceases to surprise me...

The iPhone is given FREE to customers in Japan who sign a 2 year contract with the phone company because that is how unsophisticated it is compared to Japanese phones(you can watch TV on their phones).

charlie|thotti,

Japan is the most difficult mobile market to crack even for Nokia and Motorola(in good old days). I personally feel that Japanese are the most finicky customers :)

I agree with the fact that Iphone is unsophisticated...but then, i think it has made the internet usage very easy for the normal users through widgets/apps.

Agreed. They create a new market altogether.

I really doubt about this 1bn. figure. The download count shown in their page used to change every second .. by the same amount.

Interestingly I saw that this number is calculated using javascript. The base value is calculated from your system time and for every second, an offset is calculated and added to the base, and hence a constant change in the number every second.

However, I agree when you say that iPhone has single handedly changed the mobile market. A good competition opened up by Apple which was no where in the mobile domain before its iPhone. Awesome.
