The Nobel Committee said he won it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples".
Since when did effort alone was enough to fetch a Peace Prize? No, i am not a Obama Hater. I truly admire him for his Oratorical skills and his seemingly down to earth attitude.
But, he doesn't deserve this win. It would've been better if it was awarded to him after achieving atleast on one front, climate control. (Nuclear issue is impossible to be solved and I don't have any hopes at all)
On other hand, maybe this kind of awarding affirms the fact that at times Prize is awarded to a less deserving individual merely because of lack of better deserving individuals.
Anyways, here is an interesting list of bashing comments in BBC site. I posted a comment, looks like it ended up in the long queue of 1000+...

Yes, too premature an award for him. May be these days the intentions count.
I don't think there is a lack of deserving people. Ramon Magsaysay is good at finding such people ofcourse unknown otherwise.
To maintain the gravity and charisma of the prize though they should choose not to give it if they don't find anybody worthy. For Physics and Chemistry there have been few years with no awardees at all. But i think here there was some international diplomacy at play.
@The Chef,
Yes, it looks like pure international diplomacy. After posting the blog post, i was thinking or rather hoping that maybe this will put an indirect pressure on Obama to truly pursue the intentions. But, not sure whether that will happen. Because at the end of the day, Country comes first and world next.
This is an amazing mockery i have read so far.
The last line gave away the truth of mockery :)
If this is the case, Bush deserves it more than Obama :D .he literally started two unending wars for 'securing' the world. What have Obama done? Or this award is for his achievement to become the President of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? btw how many US presidents have got the nobel prize?
Na. No way he deserved it. I have very 'nobel' intentions too!
Yeah. Zardari also said there should be peace with India, Pakistan will chase out all terrorists etc. I have no reason to believe he did not mean it. And what he was hinting at would remove one of world's most dangerous flashpoints. Lets give him a nobel.
Alas intentions do not mean one will be able to deliver. Obama might want to bring everlasting peace to all, justice for all, End of poverty and hunger and disease and death. And perpetual motion. Doesn't mean he will be able to deliver. And as of now he has not delivered anything, not even actual closure of Guantanamo. So if he intentions deserve a nobel to encourage, why not a nobel to Zardari?
